Today 5th Street from High Street to the Boulevard will be closed from 9am-5pm. The road will be opened back up at the end of the day. This will be repeated tomorrow as well.

City of Alva crews are repairing a waterline in the 900 block of 4th Street. It was not anticipated, but both lanes of traffic will need to be closed for this repair work.

The City of Alva will be closed on Monday September 7th for Labor Day. Trash service will run as scheduled. Thank you to all who work hard and build our commuinity!

The Street Department will be performing a resurfacing project from High Street to Oklahoma Blvd, south of 5th Street, effective August 18, 2026. The area will remain accessible to traffic throughout the duration of the project.

The water department will be conducting repairs to a main water line in the vicinity of Lake Drive. Currently, we do not foresee any disruption to water services. We will provide updates to this post should circumstances change.

City of Alva crews are repairing a waterline on Oak Street. We anticipate this to be a quick and simple repair, but it may be necessary to reduce pressure to areas west of 14th Street over the next few hours.

The City of Alva just received word that OG&E is experiencing a power outage in some parts of town. As hot as it is, if you are without power and need a place to cool down, the Alva Public Library (504 7th St) is a designated COOL ZONE. OG&E estimates power to be restored by 11:45 am.

Barnes Street north of the Alva Public Library, just east of the 7th St. intersection, will be closed to through traffic for an urgent water line repair/replacement beginning 7/21/2026 at approximately 6:00 am.
Barring any unforeseen issues, the street will be reopened by the end of the day on 7/21/2026. We are not anticipating an interruption in water service, except for one customer who is aware of the issue.
Street crews will be working to repair the street prior to the beginning of school.
